Reproduction of the Common Swift in 2024
A surprising and sometimes little-known bird, the Common Swift (Apus apus) is a highly migratory species that returns to our region at the end of April/May and starts to leave again at the end of July.
It spends most of its life in flight (feeding, sleeping, breeding, etc.) and only lands to nest.
Dependent on suitable cavities in the built environment, it suffers, like swallows, from the waterproofing of our structures.
The species was monitored in 2023 and 2024 as part of the local Zevent project.
